25 Things I Love FREE DOWNLOAD

IMG_2196 (1)

We are counting down to the day of love and made this sweet download  that you can make for everyone on your list. Simply print out,  cardstock or a whole sheet of sticker paper works well. Write in the blank circles, the reasons why you love your special someone, cut out all of the circles inside the line, or punch out with a 3/4″ circle punch (easiest). Glue onto bottom of kiss and fill your jar up. A pint jar will hold a little over 50+ kisses (The bag contains more, but who can complain about chocolate leftovers?) Fill your jar and place the cut out label between the lid and the ring, adding a doily of you wish… the perfect treat activity for everyone in the family, grandparents, friends, neighbors, church groups, teachers and co-workers. Share the love!

Happy Weekend! Brenda

Take Your Family to Rootstech Family Discovery Day – It’s FREE!

Have you noticed how busy our temples have become? Don’t you just love it when you see   youth from your ward or your children’s friends there?

My  eighteen year old son likes to go bright and early Saturday morning. He often returns home to say that he ran into several of his friends there. Seeing his peers serving in the temple increases his desire to serve there.  I’ve seen his service do this same thing to some of his peers. There is power, synergism and increased joy when we do things together.

If you children have not caught onto how fun Family History & Temple Work can be, consider taking them to Family Discovery Day at Rootstech — February 6th. {You will need to register online but it’s FREE!}

This year Rootstech is doing a fun “Armed with Power” Treasure Quest. Imagine your children along with 1,000 other children finding excitement and joy as they hunt for different activities around the event center that perk their interests into their own family history.

Hope to see you {and your children} there.  Be sure to stop by the Sugardoodle booth for your children to play “Find-A-Grave.”  It’s part of the treasure quest and is a fun computer hunt where the youth have the find the graves of 8 famous people. How fast can they find them?

Free ‘Press Forward’ iPhone Wallpaper & Printable

I have three phone-obsessed teenagers so I’m always on the lookout for ways to use their tech to reinforce gospel messages. When I started designing pieces for my 2016 Press Forward line I knew it needed to include some cool phone wallpapers to please my tech-loving kids. After all, what better way to remind them to use their tech wisely than to have this beautiful scripture light up their lock screen every time they grab their phones?

MeckMom Press Forward iPhone Mockup Pic 1-01This phone wallpaper version was the perfect choice for my 14 year-old son (who can’t seem to hold on to a lesson handout for more than 12 seconds). However, my beehive and laurel-age daughter’s still love paper handouts so I made a printed version for them to hang in their rooms as well.

MM Press Forward iPhone Printed Pic 750x750-01You can find both the iPhone screen saver and the 5×7 print below. Mom Tip: the 5×7 print also works well as a computer screen-saver and iPad lock screen so you should grab both files while you’re here. Might as well plaster all their devices with scriptures, right? 😉

Feel free to save them to your phones, print them at Costco or simply text them to all the device-addicted teenagers in your life. Enjoy!

AF Do It blog pic 1-01-2

It’s January and the popular look of this month is often represented with blank slates and the color white.  Current advertisements depict crisp, cotton sheets and beautiful stacks of soft, fluffy white towels.  Blogs feature shiny, clutter-free countertops and labeled canisters lined up on pantry shelves. I’m drawn to these images, because it’s what I want to see after the last piece of English toffee is consumed, the lingering scraps of wrapping paper are tossed, and the final Christmas bin is neatly stacked away in the garage; cleared surfaces and clean slates.  It feels so good to give my eyes a rest in my home and refocus.  In January, I am no longer distracted by clutter and holiday bustle, so I can finally dream about what I want to accomplish over the next twelve months. Many of us clean, organize, dejunk, and set goals as a ritual at the beginning of the new year.  Isaiah 1:18 reads, “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”  What hope that scripture gives us to be diligent in trying to make changes!  All the mistakes we made last year that we want to fix and the goals we set but didn’t follow through, we get to try again.  It doesn’t feel so discouraging, because we have a clean slate.  President Gordon B. Hinckley encouraged us to “try a little harder to be a little better.”  Once you identify what will make you a little better,  think of what can remind you to stay motivated with your goals when life starts once again filling up with daily clutter and schedules?  Is it a song?  A slogan?  A quote?  A scripture? A daily alarm?

As for me, nothing inspires me more than words put in an art form.  The power of the written word.  I love President Spencer W. Kimball.  He is the prophet I grew up with from the time I was four until I was a junior in high school.  I am inspired by the personal slogan that he lived by, “Do it!”.  I have seen these two little words many times together over the last several decades.  They’ve been engraved on multiple desk plaques, printed on thousands of refrigerator magnets and wall posters, and most likely called out by mothers everywhere when chores are in need of getting done. “Do it!” is the simple phrase that calls us to our duty.  Whatever main goal you set this January, quit contemplating over it. Quit thinking about starting it, and just DO IT!
